You, Too, Can Be a Freelance Photographer

Celebrities have never had privacy, but since the advent of the digital camera, they can’t even avoid the paparazzi to keep their mugs out of the tabloids!  Everyone with a camera on their phone or in their pocket can snap a shot, send it to the nearest newspaper, or just upload onto the Internet for instant fame.  This may be a reason to keep fame at arms length, but could be a great opportunity for digital camera owners!
Yes, ordinary people like you and I are making money with digital cameras.
And celebrity shots aren’t the only way to make money with your digital camera.  Maybe you don’t stand much of a chance of seeing anyone internationally famous in your home town.  But just think about it.  What DO you see that others may find interesting?  City dwellers may find peace in photos of your beautiful countryside.  Foreigners may take interest in your country’s cultural heritage.  Animal antics of all kinds are always in big demand.  Huge varieties of pictures of people, places and events are needed by webmasters everywhere, and they’re willing to pay for them rather than go out and shoot them themselves.
There are even people who will contract with you to take specific pictures for them.  Insurance companies need pictures of property they are considering insuring.  Mortgage companies often hire “drive by” photographers to get pictures to make sure the mortgaged property is being cared for properly.  You may even get an assignment photographing damaged cars or real estate after accident or natural disaster.  These types of assignments are often available because the time and expense of traveling to distant locations is not worth sending a company professional when an amateur with a simple digital camera can do the very same thing and just as well.
These types of money-making opportunities are available to anyone with a digital camera and an Internet connection.  You don’t need to be a professional, or even have any photography experience.  Taking great pictures is part skill, part luck and part opportunity.  The pictures you take in your spare time could make you some extra cash.  Pay for that camera with a little extra picture-taking!  It’s fun and profitable.  You might even turn it into your major source of income.
